Artist

school assemblage

The work embodies how I am an assemblage; whether it is a line of book, artwork in a museum, or daily interaction with my peers, all culminate into who I am as an individual, which encompasses past, present, and the future. The sculptures atop the table follow the layout of Korean ancestral rites to pay homage to my experience and values. This extends the concept of ancestry beyond lineage to past itself, hence the objects on the table all reflect my past experiences as an artist, researcher, and a green historian. The audience, seated on a cushion and looking up at the lotus flower, represents the present. The future box, with a paper lotus that symbolizes resilience  on top, represents the future I aspire to. All-in-all, the work represents how we all are collections of objects, moments, and impressions that create imprints lasting beyond our lifetime.
